My…I need to stop and catch a breath while giving Chidi an update blog…lmao

So I’m walking down Magazine st. and I see a man walking two miniature ponies…lol…just kidding…oh no this is a true story but since I have been carrying my camera everywhere I have not seen this man since…so you’ll just have to believe me…lol

I’m really gonna miss Katie Couric. The Today Show is apart of my morning ritual.

Wake up at 6:45, but somebody’s ALWAYS in the bathroom so I continue to lie down and watch the news, just in time to catch the forecast of the day. Then at 7:00 that theme music comes on and even though I know I’m suppose to be getting ready for work, I am always suckered into enjoying a conversation with Kate and Matt.

Well sorry Matt, Al and Ann. No more Today Show. Tomorrow it will be Good Morning America. It’s not u.

It’s that damn Meredith. I just don’t like her.

Anyways…what’s been really hood?

I took my GRE and found out I’m average….AVERAGE I tell ya!!!! LOL, good thing I have my grades to compensate for my scores…cause I’m a bomb azz sociology student!!! What!!! Ask my professors…lmao

Thanks Chidi, for introducing me to that New York Shit!!!! But I love the Kweli/J. Grae version. Jean is so dope, the whole song is cold but I was a little affected when she says,”gotta give back to the city I’m a factor of” I’ve been thinking how much of a disservice it would be to my city if I didn’t dedicate my research towards home...what obviously sprung to mind was a project which follows a particular neighborhood community rebuilding effort..who comes back and why (the variables at work here), how decisions are made, interface with city,
state, federal plans and agencies ..a before and after profile of a community.

Just a few thoughts

Anyways…I’m leaving for Houston tomorrow to check out kweli and the roots…its no radio city music hall but it’ll due

No really, did ya’ll see the Today Show this morning when they did a 15 year in review of a lot of the top stories Katie has covered.

Sobbing before work. Hard. Ugly crying.

Damn.

Wake up New Orleans

http://www.abcnews.go.com/US/HurricaneKatrina/wireStory?id=1941595/

Really???? I mean what the hell is going on in New Orleans? We are so worried about keeping people out while murder is making a sure creep in the back door.

No need to revisit pre-Katrina New Orleans. Let’s call a spade a spade and stop the romanticizing of New Orleans. Yeah, it’s my city, my stompin’ grounds, the place I call home, but I’m not blind. Daily murders…children killing children killing adults…for what?????

You know I really don’t have answers, just asking myself a lot of questions lately.

Why?

No really, why?

When Dr. Cosby was down here for the rally to vote he posed the question, “what kind of village do we want back?”

Huh???? Talk a little louder I can’t hear you?

I feel like pulling a Larry (and not Lawrence) Fishbourn in the closing scene in School Daze… “WAKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE UUPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!! EVERYBODY, WAAAAAAAAAAAAAKKKKKKKKKEEEEEEEEEE UPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

in response to an earlier conversation....

no, I don't have elephant skin, nor do i wish to develop such rough epidermis. i'm human. i get my feelings hurt, sometimes on a daily. i sometimes wish i could change others more than i can change myself...i can't. i can only give you a few words from experience and hope you make the best decision for yourself, and hope you can do the same in return. i secretly love hard but if you eff me over...well i'm sorry, i have no problem with forgiveness, but just lose my number and forget the day that birth the friendship between u and i.

i'm human. beautifully. a complicated melody if you will, but better defined in one word...elisa

the "n" word

Okay, so why did Oprah move her Legends Ball?

Happy late moms day!!!! I effs with all the women who had a hand in raising me. Thanks!

Had a chill weekend. Nicole, Kisha and the kids came in town. I think all of my friends have huge families, you know, the kind where there’s always "the kind of _____, who is always_____"

Things felt sort of "normal" this weekend. Though I don’t actually know what "normal" is, and I think ima stop using that "n" word, cause what is normal actually?

"Glad things are back to normal" is that a state of complacency that we are comfortable in being? Really, what is ur definition of the “n” word? A day or constant period of time when the demand for change isn't required?

I don't want to be "normal." I ain't gonna lie, at one time I did. I conformed to whatever the people around me were doing plus some. I didn't know myself, so I defined me through others, conforming to someone else's normal state of being. Ish happened, times, situations and people changed and I found myself by myself. I did have to learn the hard way. I was put in situations that confirmed God was my only sense of strength and being. During this time I learned to be obedient to God and let time heal the rest of those wounds. Through my struggles I learned who I really was and who I had the potential to be…I you know me then u know normal is not in my character. Through life situations, God continues to teach me.

I watch America’s next top model faithfully, and every week Tyra (and her blinking eyes) tells the girls “If you want to be a model and win this competition, you have to stand out and distinguish yourself from the other girls here” then she goes on to “I have only 2 photographs in my hand, one of the you will stay, the other girl, who I do not call must immediately…LMAO.

Naw for real, we are ordinary people, but our potential self is extraordinary.

I'm the real No ID

Why is rent so high in Chicago???? People laugh when i tell them ima be stayin in the projects...i'm for real though…no lol

anyways on some real ish..."HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO"...thats spanish for "we closing customs for all mexican shipments and striking on the border" says our UPS logistics broker

my boss asked me if i would go to mexico to train some employees at our manufacturing company::::shrugs shoulders:::why not????

omg i forgot that someone stole my f*ing passport...no really

see when we left for katrina, we didn't realize it was going to be dun, dun, dunnnnnnnnnnn KATRINA. so we packed for a couple of days and left. I had my own apt. but i always kept things like my passport and important docs at my mom’s house in a safe.

Well, when trini hit i found out that i had 11+ ft of water so i sadly kissed all of my material possessions behind...oh and my social security card that i forgot on my mantle. I knew my mom had only had around 5 feet of water, and her house is raised, so i knew i had some type of paperwork that would prove i existed pre-trini at her residence...wrong...damn looters

how the hell u steal a safe?????? thats a rhetorical question for the smart asses that exist in the blog world

to make a long story short my passport and birth certificate were in that safe...I'm the real No ID...Kanye's mentor lol

try opening a new bank account with that....ha i did...thats another long story ending with "that ain't my social security number" "ya'll better find my damn money…I got deposit receipts"

sorry, where was I? oh, making the long short. well i'm back on paper, ya heard. and i had to apply for a whole new passport...i hope they catch ur ass with the ds64 i had to take my time and fill, and oh got through customs in Miami, they’re a breeze…lol

“So if its any consolation karma got me bad
And anything I did wrong I wish I never had”…the wheels fell off; I’m done riding.

It's the real ish i miss

charlie v. emceeing, davesoul on the 1s and 2s, and a poet at the mic.

i miss it so much, last thursday i cursed katrina for taking true brew away from me and leaving me with just

a dream

just a memory

of a sound

a word

a poem

from diarrhea to the dude who could always throw in a "fuck george bush"

u

behind that mic

made me think

made me reevaluate

who i be

made me take a look

through my third

eye

and I

loved what i saw

thanks for the windex

I didn’t even realize my mirror was a lil cloudy

getting my passport ready. might have another country stamp...that's 2 now!!!!

question?

"The only people who are scared of dying are the ones who aren't living right"

well...if a person is always worried about time, are they not using it wisely? guilty. ;-(

last night i deleted my blog

last night as i completed my first "full" blog, you know the one where you contemplate reality vs. perception, life struggles, world politics, etc. well somehow i selected my entire text and hit the backspace key...ish never fails. Every time i attempt to do something positive, some force always comes in and knocks me off my journey...hahaha what an excuse...the lies we tell ourselves. Something “positive” would've included me writing my letter of purpose or reading one of the many books i have in my mini post-trini library. Maybe the point of my blogging was to release what has been bothering for the last couple of weeks, maybe it was time to give up that, which has been hindering my growth...FEAR. Maybe it was time that I strongly consider faith and step out of my comfort zone, take some of my own advice for a change.

or maybe, i just deleted my blog by accident

again

"i was told that everything that happen; happens for a reason
and one man's forever might be God's season
been in love so deep it was hard for me to breathe
and knew somebody named me
it was hard for me to see him
I would talk freedom
but don't know if i was walkin it
you can find love and quickly get lost in it
i fostered it
knowing i'd be there for a while
learning to be a man but loving like a child
somehow my light ya'll became my rain
heartbreak and pain started to say my name
the game of fame and love stopped playing with me
people ask me "did u see her pregnant on t.v.?"
when that rain came i tried to maintain as it wrenched me
now i ain't the same man, father or m.c.
i see what God sent me loud and clear
if not for the smiles and tears i wouldn't be here
again"
